our story

Lucy has forever been fascinated with all things sparkly.

Brimming with brooches and beads coloured by the entire rainbow, Lucy’s all-time favourite childhood game was playing with her grandmother's jewellery box.

Lucy continued to connect with the sparkling and marvellous things in life. This fascination evolved into Lucy becomoing employed at a high-end boutique jeweller while she studied and graduated with a Business Management degree at university. Lucy continued her studies with A 2 year diploma in gemmology to become a fellow of the gemmological association of Australia, She completed her Jewellery Valuation course and became a registered Jewellery Valuer in 2012. Lucy wasnt finished and completed a diploma in Diamond Technology to become a diamond technologist as well as studied Diamond Grading at the GIA Office in London whilst living abroad for a short time. With this diamond and gemstone experience - Lucy moved into  Sydney’s glorious Queen Victoria Building where she worked with and sold Australia’s most beautiful, rich and rare - pink and blue diamonds.

Alongside her formal qualifications, Lucy continued to gain notoriety for her spirit and integrity as a Jewellery professional. This connected her career to a management position at the next high street jewellery boutique at Number 1. Martin Place, in the heart of Sydney where she worked for many years.

While the corporate ladder and concrete jungle are indisputably glamorous - it wasn’t cutting it for Lucy.

Like many of us, Lucy underwent a life reset. One of courage, belonging and legacy.

This was the beginning of Lucy in the Sky.

Mastercraftsman

Jewellery from Lucy in the Sky is forged from the heart by the hands of renowned merchants, artisans and masters.

SUPPLIERS

The diamonds, gemstones and metals are chosen to align with your own ethos and depend on your piece. This could be from inherited, repurposed jewellery or newly sourced materials purchased from world-renowned merchants who deal only to the highest standards.

ILLUSTRATORS

Before your jewels are created, they are illustrated. What you receive will entirely depend on the piece which is being created. An illustration could be an emotive still in gouache or an almost real-life digital replica of what will soon be made, or it could be a clinical and technical illustration with all the specifications.

ARTISANS

Then the work begins on your creation. Gold and Silversmiths will forge the raw or repurposed materials for the jewellers to refine into the structure of what will be worn.

ENGRAVERS

The final touch comes from a master graver. All Lucy in the Sky Jewellery will be finished to the highest standard but many of our unrepeatable creations will receive their final touch by the hand of a graver. Hand engraving is an art form in itself, unlike modern mechanical methods. Line by line the precious metal will be pushed and chiselled away for the most beautiful consequence. This delivers smoother details, more resistant to time.

“These jewels have life in them. They will say what words will fail.”
